CA at IrondVICTOR-6 at PENFIELD-4 - It was a close and exciting game at Penfield as the defense at both ends of the field kept the score low. Victor scored first but Penfield returned for the first tie. Kyle Saeger (2g-1a) the scored twice to give the Blue Devils a 3-1 led at the end of the first quarter. Both teams scored one goal in the second and left with Victor up 4-2 at the half. Ethan Aust (1g) scored the only goal in the third, taking the Patriots to 4-3. Near the top of the last quarter Zach Shores (1g) scored the tying goal for Penfield. The Blue Panthers held off a fourth quarter surge by the Pride and held on for the 13-12 win. Aquinas, likewise held off a last quarter surge by the Lakers, winning 12-10 and locking up the GRALL title. Thomas won the battle at Webster and Penn Yan had a shutout against Clarence.

DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - It took overtime after seven ties for the Rangers to beat McQuaid Jesuit 10-9. Brighton scored first and never looked back as they beat Aquinas 11-8. An unmatched goal in the fourth quarter was one goal less than the Saints needed as Livonia-Avon won 8-7. Penn Yan has an overtime loss against a strong Lake Shore team from Buffalo and Schroeder held the Hawks scoreless in three quarters for their 5-3 win in Corning.

Topping the list is Canandaigua's 4-3 win at Brighton where neither team scored in the second half. Pittsford took an early lead and then never gave it up in the 8-6 win over visiting Irondequoit and Spencerport held Fairport scoreless in two quarters in their 7-3 win at home. Penfield scored four unanswered goals in the first quarter and then coasted to their 11-7 win over visiting Schroeder.

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: In the first minute of the game Victor scored two goals against Fairport and cruised to a 19-2 win at Fairport in their season opener.  Sam Ricci dominated at the faceoff X, winning 16 of 17 (94%). Marcus Whitman won their first game of the season in a good game with Gananda. A couple of goals before the half was the difference as Livonia-Avon defeated Pal-Mac 8-6. Other winners, most in not so close games were Wayne, Aquinas, Pittsford, Irondequoit and Thomas.

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Long-time Penfield coach, John Schembri won his 150th game today at the Patriots defeated Churchville-Chili 15-4. Hilton used overtime to beat Thomas with a goal by senior attackman Nicholas Fede. McQuaid won their first series game against Rush-Henrietta. At Pittsford, the Panthers held off late advances by St Joseph and took the 8-7 win. Other winners were HF-L, Schroeder and Brockport who gave their Head Coaches a first win, East-United-Eastridge, Livonia-Avon and Spencerport.
